I love my hometown.

I’m going to admit it publicly, I love our downtown of Greenville, Ohio!

I’ve had the privilege of working in downtown Greenville since July of 2010, right at four years, and the longer I’m here, the more I realize what a special place we have here in rural western Ohio.

My time in downtown Greenville began when I started with The Daily Advocate in their graphics department.  Today, my office overlooks the courthouse lawn and Broadway. Tall windows provide a great view of the downtown and the bright blue sky.

I love our downtown because it is alive! It’s always busy!  Working downtown allows me to see families out for a stroll, old friends reconnecting at one of our many restaurants and coffee shops, visitors from out of town visiting many of the unique shops and boutiques… yes, I am still amazed every time I see a tour bus parked on Fourth Street… in Greenville?!

Our downtown has come a long way and it didn’t just happen by chance.  It took vision and a lot of hard work by many people.  Business owners willing to stay or relocate here, volunteers who work to keep the downtown clean and vibrant, organizations like Main Street Greenville and the Darke County Visitors Bureau, among others, have made a huge impact in the revitalization of our downtown and of course people like you and me who choose to shop, eat and work in our beautiful downtown.

So come out, enjoy our downtown.  Come to eat, shop or just hang out.  If you’ve never been downtown during one of the First Friday events, come out the first Friday of each month, March through December.  Many of the downtown businesses stay open late and there are always live bands playing.  If you would like more information on downtown events or volunteer opportunities, contact Main Street Greenville or visit their Facebook page.  They are an excellent resource for our downtown!
